Winter Wellbeing: A Seasonal Mudgee Itinerary

While the world rushes indoors and hibernates through winter, we invite you to do things a little differently. Trade the chilly city for the quiet calm of country time and sink into something slower, softer and far more indulgent.

At The Clairfield, winter is a sensory season: the aroma of fire-cooked food at Gigi’s, the gentle warmth of Jila’s infrared saunas, and the clink of a bold red poured fireside. We've crafted a 3-night itinerary, to whisk you out of your mid-year city funk and into a sensory winter wonderland.

Day One: Arrive, Exhale, Restore

FRIDAY AFTERNOON

Your winter wellbeing escape begins the moment you arrive. Check into your suite, wrap yourself in the fluffiest robe you can imagine, and enjoy a warming cup of Love Tea to ease into the weekend. Whether you curl up with a book or head straight down to the bar for a bold glass of red to enjoy by the outdoor fire, this is your cue to slow all the way down.

FRIDAY NIGHT

Dinner tonight is all about ease and delicious local goodness at Gigi’s, our beloved on-site restaurant. Chef Sam’s menu is a seasonal celebration—think flame-cooked, deeply flavoured fare paired with a thoughtfully curated wine list. Expect elegant comfort food with a country soul.

Just make sure to book—we’d hate for you to miss out!

Day Two: Sauna, Sip, and Settle In

SATURDAY MORNING

Start slow with breakfast by the fire at Gigi’s. Think: perfectly poached eggs on fresh cooked ciabatta, mind-blowing Seven Miles coffee, and country hospitality in abundance. Then, warm your winter bones in the infrared sauna at Jila Wellness, located right here at The Clairfield. A session here feels like a full reset: nourishing, calming and deeply restorative.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON + EVENING

Spend your afternoon at the Zin House for a long, slow lunch overlooking the vines. Whether you choose their signature long lunch experience or a seasonal tasting menu, prepare for generous hospitality and full-bodied local flavours.

When you return to The Clairfield, let the night ease in slowly with bar snacks and cocktails in the Gigi’s bar. No rush. No need to go anywhere. Just good company, warming drinks, and a relaxing evening in.

Day Three: Slow Shopping and Local Soul

SUNDAY MORNING

After a deep unhurried sleep-in, rug up and head into town for coffee, breakfast and cozy vibes at Alby & Esthers, a local favourite. From there, roam the pretty Mudgee streets and discover a stunning array of boutiques.

Before you hit the road, grab a delicious house-made sandwich or yummy lunch to go from Millbrie on Market St.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Staying a little longer? Time it right and join the locals at Burnbrae Wines for Tunes at Burnbrae, held every third Sunday of the month. Live music, great wine, and a golden-hour glow make this the ultimate winter evening in wine country.

Day Four: Take the winding road home

MONDAY MORNING

Before you leave, stop by Althea by Zin for one last coffee to-go. If you’re heading back word Sydney, wind your way through the Blue Mountains and stretch your legs with a scenic winter hike from Katoomba—the fresh air and dramatic cliffs make the perfect end to your country escape.
